The live equipment page sells a $4,295 machine with a one-row spec table.
Its Specifications tab literally reads "Vendor: USACLEAN"; the real specs sit in an off-site PDF that advertises Amazon; and the on-page warranty (12 months) contradicts the true one (5-yr parts / 2-yr labor). Two full replacement concepts are built and clickable — the decision on the table is which philosophy becomes the equipment template.
Option A (spec-forward) converts the buyer who already knows what a 20-inch traction scrubber is; Option B (guided) creates that buyer. The compare experience — listing checkboxes → tray → compare page — ships with either and is where USA Clean beats Global Industrial outright. Recommended: ship A's bones, graft B's calculator and expert modules on later.
Fit before specs. Sells the outcome and the relationship; specs collapse to reference accordions.
Custom modulesPrototype ready
Outcome-first hero with quote CTA (dark) and warranty inline, the fit calculator (amber card, green verdict), and the six-model ladder strip
What's in
"Will it fit your facility?" calculator — working: enter ft² + layout, get time-per-pass for the whole line, and it down-sells ("at 6,000 ft², buy the $1,999 X13B")
Request-a-quote as the primary CTA + a named expert card ("Ask Dan")
Six-model ladder strip — "pick this if…" guidance per machine
Financing framing first (~$94/mo), FAQ, pull-quote social proof
Same warranty banner, parts module, cost-of-ownership, and mini-compare as A
The trade-off
The calculator and guided modules are custom storefront JS — Phase-2/3 work, not Phase-1 data entry
Listing checkboxes → persistent tray → compare page. Modeled on Global Industrial, then out-built.
1 template + 1 JS modulePrototype ready
Sticky buy-box row (add-to-cart + quote per machine), grouped spec rows with difference highlighting, and the Warranty / Parts & support groups (green) Global can't show
What's in
Compare checkboxes + tray on the new equipment listing — persists across pages, capped at 4
Shareable ?skus= URL + print sheet — the facilities manager forwards it to whoever signs the PO
Warranty and Parts & support compare groups — rows a big-box competitor structurally can't populate
Cost
BC's native compare provides the checkbox/URL mechanics free; the good version is one custom template + one shared JS module (the prototype is the spec)
Both options fix the same broken page; they disagree about who arrives on it.
The dividing line
Option A converts the buyer who already knows what a 20-inch traction scrubber is; Option B creates that buyer.
Concretely: a facilities director replacing a worn-out machine wants A — specs, price, warranty, cart, done. A gym owner buying their first scrubber wants B — "will it fit my 12,000 ft² floor?" answered before any spec matters. The catalog is six machines; the question for this review is which visitor USA Clean's equipment traffic actually is — and the analytics events in the brief (§09) are designed to answer it.
✓ In both options already
The warranty headline — 5-yr parts / 2-yr labor, un-buried
The parts moat — commonly-replaced parts with SKUs, prices, stock
Cost of ownership — the honest 5-year number
Quote + expert paths next to add-to-cart
Compare integration — mini-module + "compare all specs"
○ Unique to one option
A: full spec table on the page, 9-photo gallery, denser self-serve buy box
B: the down-selling fit calculator, "Ask Dan" expert card, ladder strip, FAQ, financing-first price framing

Suggested path
Ship Option A's architecture as the equipment PDP template, and build the compare experience regardless. A's sections map 1:1 onto Phase-1 native BigCommerce fields — the spec data just moves from the PDF into fields the theme already renders — so the broken page gets fixed this quarter, not next year.
Option B doesn't die: its calculator, expert card, and FAQ are modules that graft onto A in Phases 2–3, gated by the analytics the brief specifies. The client call to log as PD-005: A vs B as the base, and approval to build the compare experience.
